We are planing this new year as well a lot of events for your students to participate in!
Activity (Tentative, Subject to Change)
・12/22 Yatai – Typical Fukuoka footstalls, where you can eat a
variety of traditional Japanese cuisine.
・12/23 No class, Visiting Dazaifu
・12/24 Nengajou – Making traditional beautiful handmade Japanese
New Year cards, to give to people who helped you through the year.
・12/27 Calligraphy on T-shirts
・12/30 Visiting Yanagibashi shopping arcade.
Special groceries and decorations are on show for the New Year’s celebration.
・1/5 Wearing Kimono (Kitsuke) Women get to wear furisode, and men hakama.
・1/9 Meetup -> Bowling
・12/31- 1/1 Count Down at Enoh Temple – Having Toshikoshi Soba,
traditionally eaten at New Year’s Eve in most parts of Japan.
A custom symbolizing longevity..
・1/3Tamaseseri – A unique festival, where men carry giant balls,
to divine the year to come.
・1/7 Oniyo- An event to cleanse bad spirits with a bonfire.
・12/25 Christmas Party
・12/31 End Of Year Party (Bounenkai) – a party to say farewell, and
appreciate the year that has been.
・1/4 New Year Party (Shinnenkai) – a party to great the new
year with typical Japanese New Year Games.
・1/8 Okonomiyaki Party
