MESSAGE
During the last ten years, I have experienced highly enriching intercultural exchange with people from different cultural backgrounds, particularly in the city of Nagasaki. I started teaching Japanese, because I found it to be an exciting way to meet and interact with people from other cultures. My favorite things are fashion, my pets, traveling, American TV shows, drinking and eating out with my cheerful friends, and meeting people as many new people as I can at WAHAHA !

I am married to a Singaporean, and lived in Singapore for 28 years. Prior to Singapore, I taught Japanese as an assistant at university in America. In Singapore, I mainly taught at National University of Singapore. Moreover, I taught students from various age groups and backgrounds such as from Polytechnique, American School, junior high school, and working adult classes, etc. I also conducted orientations for a large scale government project called 21st century Japan Asean Friendship Program in which the Japanese government invited 300 Asean youth for a month stay in Japan every year. Besides, I was aired live for a NHK radio program called World Network, reporting updates from Singapore for many years. Also, I have been bringing in Singaporeans and others to Japan for immersion experiences, providing home-stay, company visits, etc. Now that I am based in my home town, Fukuoka, I would love to share with and learn from you difficulties and fun in intercultural communications. I hope this process of learning together will grow into mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and your country, and you and me!

Hello. I studied abroad for a year when I was in university, and the experience of learning language brought me into teaching. I felt so helpless with communication problems to others cause I was totally fresh there. Although it took me a short time to adapt myself to the life in foreign country, I became to enjoy learning the new language and handing out with so many new friends after a while. At that time, I hope that one day I can also share the experience to my students in Japanese class. That is the reason why I am now teaching Japanese in WAHAHA. Have you ever been in Fukuoka? I was born and raised in Fukuoka and I think that Fukuoka is really a beautiful city. Maybe you don’t know this yet, but I would like to say that Fukuoka is one of the city where most of Japanese wish to live in. If one day you have chance to come to Fukuoka, we are looking forward to see you in this lovely city!

Some of my interests are reading books, watching movies, chatting, and attending the Karatsu Kunchi Festival. I returned to Fukuoka last year, after having taught Japanese in Korea for 6 years. Although beginning a new life in a foreign country, whose language is unfamiliar, can be a bit of a frightening experience, it can also be an exciting one. I look forward to helping you improve your knowledge of Japanese language and culture here in Fukuoka. Come join us and have fun!

Hi my name is Akio Nakamura. I used to work at a magazine company in Tokyo. However, because I wanted a job which involved more human interaction as opposed to a job that solely dealt with impersonal texts, I decided to become a Japanese teacher! I would like to help as many people as possible who want to improve their Japanese skills! There are many advantages to living in Fukuoka! For starters its a very livable city, the cost of living is much more affordable (compared to other cities in Japan), and there are many delicious foods and cuisines one can enjoy at any given time. If you drive about an hour out of the city center, there's a beautiful beach called “NANATSUGAMA” which is famous for Jacques Mayols story, in which he saw a dolphin for first time in his life. Let’s study Japanese and have some fun!
